The Dog Discuit is an 8 inch frisbee-type flying disc with a bright LED in the middle. The light is operated by pressing the center of the disc pretty hard, so the dog is very unlikely to accidentally turn it on or off on its own. Constructed of soft, rubber-like plastic, the Dog Discuit is easier on a dog's mouth than hard plastic, more resistant to biting and chewing, and easier for you to pull out of the dog's mouth and throw when covered with dog slobber.

Dog Discuit Light-Up Frisbee Disc Details

The Dog Discuit from FlashFlight/Nite Ize is an LED-illuminated dog frisbee for night time Fido fun. The LED is much brighter than the green, glow in the dark dog frisbees from the 80s, and you don't have to hold the disc in front of a headlight every 5 minutes to keep it charged. The Dog Discuit is made from a more flexible, rubbery polymer than most light-up frisbees so that it doesn't crack when the dog bites down on it. Even if the dog does manage to puncture the material with its teeth, the holes don't tend to spread into tears and leave nothing but a white dot on the translucent plastic.

How Does the Dog Discuit Compare to Light Up Frisbees for People?

The dog discuit is more fun for dogs to catch than regular frisbees because they are softer material that is less likely to get abrasive or splintered than harder plastics. The rubberized material makes the Dog Discuit heavier than a regular frisbee of the same size, though, so they don't coast on air for as long a distance as a regular light up frisbee. A dog frisbee is not recommended for playing catch or Ultimate Frisbee with other people because they fall faster and are harder to catch up with before a bad throw hits the ground. A people frisbee, though, is no good for playing catch with a dog because the dog will bear down on the frisbee after it catches it, cracking the plastic and ruining the disc. Dogs also like to chew on things they catch. The rubber-like material the Dog Discuit is made of will withstand a reasonable amount of chewing without any damage, whereas a regular frisbee will be mauled in minutes.

The LED pack on the Dog Discuit is also shaped so that it's hard for a dog to get its teeth on it and tear it off. The LED pack on light-up frisbees meant for people are easy to grasp, and therefore easy for a dog to chomp down on and destroy.
